So I just finished watching Silver Linings Playbook… and
although I thought it moved slow; I personally feel that it is a must see. Not
only am I now seriously in love with Bradley Cooper, especially since he is in
a football jersey most of the time, but I have never rooted for a love story
like I did between his character and Jennifer Lawrence’s.
Quick Synopsis
Life doesn’t always go according to plan…Pat Solatano (Bradley Cooper) has lost everything — his house, his job, and his wife. He now finds himself living back with his mother (Jacki Weaver) and father (Robert DeNiro) after spending eight months is a state institution on a plea bargain. Pat is determined to rebuild his life, remain positive and reunite with his wife, despite the challenging circumstances of their separation. All Pat’s parents want is for him to get back on his feet – and to share their family’s obsession with the Philadelphia Eagles football team. When Pat meets Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence), a mysterious girl with problems of her own, things get complicated. Tiffany offers to help Pat reconnect with his wife, but only if he’ll do something very important for her in return. As their deal plays out, an unexpected bond begins to form between them, and silver liningsappear in both of their lives.
Jennifer Lawrence stole the show in the film and provided an incredibly convincing performance. But Cooper also did a great performance as well. Robert De Niro gave a subtle yet incredibly strong performance by introducing us to someone struggling with an undiagnosed mental disorder. He is hands down one of the greatest actors of our time. Oh, and another thing that stood out to me was the return of Chris Tucker to film. I haven’t seen this guy in YEARS! I mean who didn’t love the Rush Hour movies?!
I cried at the end,
but then again I cry about everything sappy and love related.
Final Thoughts: In a strange way the movie made me believe I’ll find love…but
most love stories do…kind of. And in 30 years I hope I’m a mom who wears a
jersey around on Sundays “making crabbies and homemades”.
Silver Linings Playbook….go see it.
