Currently Obsessed

Hey Ladiesssssss. Listen up because I’m about to change yo life. Last night my roommate introduced me to one of the best kept nail secrets evaaa - Seche Vite Quick Dry Top Coat. You literally brush it on after you put on the color of your choice, and in 5 minutes you can conquer the world. Put on another coat the day after and you’re looking at a chip free life for up to 2 weeks. Woah. I don’t know what is in this magic concoction, but I’m thinking it is basically shiny liquid glue…but I’m ok with that. I love a high gloss on my nails and this gives me exactly what I like.

Go out and get some!

Good Eats

This evening I went up to my friend's parents house and her mom made us a bomb dinna, chick did work in da kitchen. One of the dishes she prepared was a salad that rocked my world. Super easy, perfect for summer and tastes like a refreshing party in your mouth. To spread the salad love I've decided to share with you all the deets on this fab dish.

What you need:
- Bag of Arugula
- Small handful of mint
- Feta cheese
- Cucumber
- Watermelon
- Balsamic Vinaigrette

What you do:
Finely chop the mint leaves and cut up the watermelon and cucumber. Throw everything into a bowl and drizzle some dressing on the goods. Give it a little toss and enjoy. Easy enough right! Use whatever amounts of feta, cucumber and watermelon you want, same goes with the dressing. I put a little fresh ground pepper on it, but thats just me.

You're Welcome

Moving

First off, I have always been one to be excited about moving. New place, new friends, a fresh start to a new chapter! Now when the actual moving day comes, I hate moving. Up until now, everytime I have moved, it has been into a furnished apartment, this is the first time I'm moving into a completely empty room. Which can be daunting - decorating wise, but also super exciting about having a blank canvas to work with.

Now back to the whole moving the furniture. In the last week, my father and I have basically become our own moving company. If there was a tag line, it would be Limoncelli Movers - where a 67 year old and a 23 year old yell and get nothing accomplished. But really, if I had a dollar for everytime my dad yelled "we're hiring movers the next time you do this!" I'd be able to retire to Antiqua and drive an Aston Martin - it was a cray week.

Back to moving. I literally only had to move into a bedroom. I moved into an apartment with 4 other girls who have all been there for about a year, but its ok because one is my bestie from grad school, another went to SLU (we luuurve her obviously) and one is absolutely hilarious and I just want to throw her in my purse and take her everywhere with me! Getting back to my point, they already have a living room set up and a kitchen furnished and everything, I literally just needed to move into a bedroom. Sounds easy enough right? WRONG. First off, my decorating sense has taken a turn for the worse...as of now it looks like I moved into one of our guestrooms at home. I'm hoping I can add some pizazz and more feminine touches when my last piece of furniture arrives and I put curtains up. It is seriously so sad right now. Poor little room.

My thought process for decorating was trying my best to achieve a look similar to this:

Ralph Lauren

Ralph Lauren

LOVE IT RIGHT?! I know me too.

The only problem was that my budget for the room was about the size of my room and compared to this room...both are much smaller. Argh.
So I went with mostly whites and some mint accents for my bed, hoping I can find some pale pinks and peaches to add sooner than later. But I think I took a turn for the worse when I spontaneously bought an extremely aggressive Persian style rug (on sale...so I was trying) that looks like it belongs in a sitting room designed by a 70 year old man. Ok I fell off the tracks of my style sense for a second, but now I have to work with what I have because I had the movers that delivered my bed (bed and only bed, everything else courtesy of me and my fathaaa) set up the bed right on top of the rug - because I had read that if you are getting an area rug for a small bedroom, you should have it frame the bed and side tables. I did that...and if I was color blind things would look great. But I can't get discouraged, I must keep going, I MUST FIX THIS.

I think my biggest issue is the star of my room, a pre-war desk of drawers in dark mahogany with intricate handles, wont be arriving for another two weeks because my amazing mama is staining it and touching it up a bit. In the previous week I had watched too much Downton Abbey and proceeded to aggressively go antiquing where I purchased two pieces of drawers (that came from a woman who is getting rid of them because shes GOING BACK TO ENGLAND! -fate people) that reminded me of pieces I'd find in Downton.

Downton Abbey

What I'm actually working with.
I forgot to think about the fact that Downton is massive and my room is not. Therefore, filling everything with dark colors can be a bit...lets just say I've had better ideas. Like getting highlights my freshmen year of high school, NOT.

So now that I've vented I feel a bit better. But I can't wait until the room is finished, and I can show you guys!

I apologize now, I have a feeling the topic of conversation might gravitate towards interior design in the near future. That might also be because I have been dreaming of working in interior design, getting married and moving to Chicago or Texas...I know. I blame it on the fact that I have been catching up on one of my favorite blogs Peppermint Bliss. Check it out, I find Bailey to be hilarious and I feel like we'd be besties if we met. Anyway, that is my life right now.

One Year Later

A year ago today was the best, worst day of my life. A year ago today I graduated from the greatest school in the world, St. Lawrence University.

Now if you've ever met me, you know that I love love LOVE my alma mater and I am so proud to be a Laurentian. Many people ask why? Why I went there, why I love it so much, why I miss it. Yes it's a small school in the middle of no where, and its winter most of the year, but I chose it because of the people. Upon my first visit to SLU until the day I left, and every moment I've spent there since, I have enjoyed the company of my friends, my teammates, sorority sisters, classmates, teachers, administrators, coaches, trainers, bosses, facility workers, advisors and of course the pub ladies. It didn't matter that we only had a few bars, 2,500 students, freezing temperatures and lacked certain things that many might think are crucial to enjoy your college years, we had the greatest people in the world and I have made relationships and friendships that will last the rest of my life. St. Lawrence taught me that at the end of the day, it's who you surround yourself with that matters the most.

My friends, teammates, everyone at SLU quickly became my family. And St. Lawrence became my home. By the time I came home for Christmas my sophomore year, I realized I felt more at home at St. Lawrence, than I did in my hometown, where I had spent my entire life! You're probably thinking this is crazy, but I feel sorry for those who left where they went to school and didn't cherish every moment of it.

I wouldn't change anything about my time at SLU and I loved every minute of my four years. Every bus ride to away tournaments, pledging, finals weeks, formals, mixers, dana dinners, lazy Sundays, Tuesday Blues at the Hoot, even pre-seasons! St. Lawrence was my home and the friends I made are my family.

"They will come back, those days, and start you dreaming,
Years after in the fall when you're away.
You may forget for years this place, this college,
And find it in your heart some autumn day.
You will remember then these other falls,
The color and the campus and the town,
The easy days that somehow slipped away,
As scarlet leaves melt swiftly into brown."

To the class of 2013, congratulations on an amazing four years. You are now part of the disguised ranks of St. Lawrence Alumni.

Fiddle Leaf Fig

Now that I've moved into a new apartment I've got home decor on the brain 24/7...actually I'm always thinking about how I'm going to decorate any room I'm in. I love plants, and I want them all over my house, hello oxygennnn. One of my favorite plants to use inside is the ficus lyrata, also known as the "fiddle leaf fig ficus" - and who doesn't love the name!

These plants are truely living art. These statuesque plants are characterized by huge sturdy leaves that are almost like leather or feel like they've been laminated or something. Sometimes I personally feel like they're a mini trendy palm or something of that nature. These plants are tough cookies so they'd be perfect for all you green thumb challenged people!

RL Blue Label SS13

We need to talk about Ralph Lauren’s Blue Label SS ‘13 collection – it is fabulous, classic, tailored perfection. RL killed it with this collection in my book, I would wear EVERY SINGLE piece.  Plus there are a ton of replikates that I’m loving as well.
